The Leadership Shelby County Class of 2023 (LSC) joined the Shelby County Legislative Delegation (SCLD) down in Montgomery Tuesday morning for a panel with our members. Legislators were able to catch up with some of our community leaders-in-training to give an update on what’s happening at the State House so far in this special session and talk about what’s coming up as the paused regular session takes shape.
Our legislators were able to give the group a tour of the House Chamber floor after the panel. They spoke on the differences between the chambers and talked about the processes they go through for voting, attendance, and how seats were selected.
After the panel and tour, some of our legislators joined LSC and members of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce for lunch and an update from Governor Ivey. Following Governor Ivey's speech, Sen. Roberts prayed over Governor Ivey and the decisions she makes for our state. Representative Russell Bedsole (LSC Class of 2019) was able to give the annual Leadership Moment, where he talked about the impacts leaders can have, even in unexpected ways.
In the afternoon, LSC joined the Shelby Chamber for their Montgomery Drive-In. The group heard from several speakers from ADECA, the Department of Labor, Department of Transportation, and Department of Commerce and Industrial Development Training. It was a great opportunity that the SCLD was proud to have assisted with.
