Fall 2018 rings in a new election cycle. This year is the last year of the quadrennium for legislators in Alabama. Throughout this year, candidates have been running for elected positions in the Alabama House and Senate, with an impending General Election coming in November. Most of our Delegation members are running again for their current seats, so they have been busy in their districts.

Along with their jobs outside of the Legislature, our members have been acting as both legislators and candidates this year. As legislators, they have been busy with their typical roles in the community, like awarding Community Service Grants, presenting Resolutions for constituent achievements, meeting with local officials and citizens, and attending ribbon cuttings in the district. As candidates, they have been hosting events, fund raising, going door to door to meet constituents, and campaigning at local festivals and events.

Candidates for office have been campaigning over the past year in anticipation for their party’s Primary Election, which was held on June 5^th. Of the 11 seats that make up the Shelby County Delegation, 9 of the seats faced Primary Election opposition. In the General Election, which will be held on November 6^th, 10 of our seats will be up for grabs.

Throughout the fall, you will continue to see our Delegation members around the district serving as legislators and candidates, so keep an eye out for your representative or senator in your area.
